I have been pondering the last few days whether or not it would be a good idea for me to go vegetarian.  I seem to be getting messages that it is the right thing to do for me, but am not completely sure.  Is anyone here a Veg or Vegan?  I'm thinking perhaps I'll continue eating fish for now, but not dairy and then maybe cut the fish out after.

I have heard that per the Path and Psychic gifts etc that a lighter diet  free of meat
helps the aura to be less dense.  Some say that meat brings out negative qualities such as fear, anger, anxiety, aggressiveness, etc from animals to humans. Also, I know that by fasting, I am more easily able to connect to all things on the Other side, so perhaps eating lighter foods would enhance this as well... Also gives me more energy and I need less sleep.

"I do feel that spiritual progress does demand, at some stage, that we should cease to kill our fellow creatures for the satisfaction of our bodily wants" - Mahatma Gandhi

The difference between flesh-based and vegetarian foods lies in the amount of sunlight they contain. Fruits and vegetables are steeped in sunlight.  We could almost say that they are a condensed form of light.

It is said that in order to develop the qualities of the heart, we need  to eat consciously. This means bringing in the light, eating the concentrated light which contains the beautiful sounds that connect our hearts to the rhythms and invisible aspects of the Universe. This attracts the luminous properties of matter and illuminates your being, especially your thoughts and emotions.

"If one offers Me with love and devotion a leaf, a flower, fruit or water, I will accept it." (Bhagavad Gita, 9.26)

Any opinions?
I am going to ask for Spirit help on this matter, though I think I may have already received the answers.

Earlier this year I tried to go off meat and I tried adding a lot more complete protein sources like hemp seeds, quinoa, avocados, and my protein shakes made from rice and pea proteins.

I lasted about 2 weeks without any meat, then started to get dizzy spells, low concentration, low energy, etc.

So I steamed up a couple chicken breasts, and in a couple days I was all back to normal.

I uploaded a good article here I got from school you can check out that covers many areas of Vegetarianism  Smiley

It's pretty in-depth. I'd like to hear your comments on it.

If you go vegetarian, there is no need to be too worried about getting proteins unless you go vegan, but even then... Beans have tons of protein and so does most pasta. If you don't go vegan, then cheeses and eggs and stuff have tons upon tons of proteins and stuff, although they contain (mostly) fairly high fat content. You can get nonfat milk and cottage cheese and sour cream, although I have no idea how they can do that.

I have the same thots and have gone long periods without any meat, it wouldnt phase me to eliminate meat out of my life. I dont think I could make my kids go vege tho, they're growing and so forth, and i think vege should be a personal choice - if they chose it then might be different. I know when I dont eat meat i feel lighter.

Well, it's been over a month for me with little or no animal protein and I feel great,  Much energy, skin feels clearer, sleeping better and an overall feeling of  better health.  (perhas also lost a pound or two as well, jeans fit better  Smiley )

Of course I also detoxed, herbally, did a cadida cleanse and eliminated most carbs/grains and sugars from my diet as well.

More beans and nuts and vegetables, not a lot of fruits, as I find them overly sugary and they actually make me feel hungrier.
Lots of spinach ... lol

I didn't feel like I neded to choose a protein.  I eat beans when I feel like it.  Have nuts at work when I am craving.  Just whatever is around.  I definitely won't do tofu or processes pretend foods such as soy based meat alternatives.

Hello  Cheesy
I am not a vegetarian yet. I would love to be one. Pretty soon many of us might have to become vegetarians as the price of meat is going to skyrocket in the next couple of months. That might force us to eat a better variety of food as well. I wanted also to let you know (well for those who do not know this) that mushrooms are an an excellent source of protein. And also lima beans and corn (i guess its called succotash) is another option. And yes, all the other goodies that you mentioned here such as nuts, and vegetables. My personal weakness is bread which i know is bad for me. My grand daughter is allergic to soy which is put in just about everything and disguised (in processed foods). Presently, I am forming another kidney stone now and i only have one kidney, so i will have to see what the doctor suggests. It is a yucky situation cause i need to make the body more acaline and eat a purine diet. Purine sounds like a dog food lol. Anyhow a lot to think about....
much love to you all,
liz

Beans and nuts do not contain a complete amino acid profile. They are incomplete protein sources.
It is possible to combine certain nuts and beans to form complete chains, but if your not paying attention to the ratios you will end up deficient.

Quinoa is a plant based complete protein source. Its high in fiber, and contains no gluten. Its cheap and quick and easy to cook or sprout, and is very similar to eating brown rice.

Quinoa was the gold of the Inca's. It grows very fast, with little water, even in non favorable environments.
Global starvation could easily be eliminated with this ancient grain, but the government exclusively restricts farming more than a small plot of it cause it ****s with the Wheat industry  Angry . Meanwhile, wheat is not anywhere near as healthy, contains gluten, puts way more demand on natural resources, and is full of herbicides, pesticides, and fungicides by the time you get a mouthful of it.

Eat your foods "whole", which means stay away from nonfat dairy and eggwhites  Wink

I also recommend hemp hearts.  They are yummy and nutty kinda like a sesame seed, and are so good for you.  Can be added to shakes, sprinkled on salads and baked into cookies and desserts.  Love them!
