A Time Of Heightened Emotional Connectivity With Others

December 23, 2015 by Carmen Di Luccio

Full Moon

We will be having a Full Moon in Cancer on Christmas day at 11:11am Universal Time. Yes, you read that right – 11:11 according to the world clock, and on Christmas day out of all days!

Full Moons are a time when we can feel a push and pull by the energy of two opposing signs. In this case it is the polarity of Cancer and Capricorn. The themes of the Full Moon build up in the week leading up to it and also play out in the week following.

Cancer is associated with family, caring, nurturing, security, and the home. It is the archetypal mother of the zodiac. As a water sign ruled by the Moon, it is a highly emotional, moody, instinctual, and intuitive energy. This fits very nicely onto a day like Christmas when much of the world will be spending time with family.

Capricorn is associated with structure, responsibility, management, discipline, ambition, career, and social status. It is an Earth sign ruled by Saturn; therefore it is more concerned with the Earthly and mundane world.

The Cancer Moon is warm, soft, and cozy, in opposition to the cool and serious Capricorn Sun. However, this Moon can also be moody and unstable in comparison to its more steady and grounded opposing sign. Capricorn is also a very traditional sign, and with Cancer being a family oriented sign, again, this polarity of signs will work well during the Holiday season.
Full Moon in a Trine Aspect With Neptune in Pisces

Neptune will be the only planet in a major aspect with this Full Moon, with a trine to the Moon and a sextile to the Sun. At best, it can bring an increased feeling of emotional connectivity among others in support of the Cancerian energy. At worst, Neptune here makes it easier to be careless about how much food and alcohol one consumes during the holiday season.

Neptune is also associated with being in the flow, selflessness, empathy, and compassion. A good way to work with this energy is to do something that will help others who are in need.
Mercury Trine Jupiter, Sextile Venus, and Square Mars

Mercury in Capricorn is in a harmonious aspect with Jupiter in Virgo close to the North Node. Having these planets being in Earth signs shows that there is a harmonious flow and exchange of thoughts and ideas related to either duties/work, service to others, organization, practicality, and material interests.

Jupiter in conjunction with the North Node indicates that this can be related to our future goals and new directions we are taking in life. Venus in Scorpio is in the mix, which can add themes related to money, fulfilling mutual interests, and loyalty and commitment among friends, family, and lovers.

Mars in Libra is also involved here in a tougher aspect. Although the aspects mentioned above allow for an overall nice exchange of communication and ideas, this square still stimulates the potential for conflict over what is fair or just. You may observe or be in the middle of verbal disagreements and potential arguments over this.

Uranus in Aries Going Stationary Direct

On the same day of this Full Moon, Uranus will slowly start to move in direct motion after being retrograde since late July. Being in the sign of Aries, during this period of time many people will begin to move forward in new ways in fulfillment of their personal freedom, individuality, and independence — even if it means some sort of rebellion to the status quo.

Uranus also rules over technology, innovation, inventiveness, science, and even metaphysics. The week following this Full Moon can mark the first steps we need to make in order to help us move forward in our personal aspiration related to any of those themes.

Things To Do (and Not Do) During This Period

The Full Moon’s aspect with Neptune can make it easier to end up getting intoxicated and Mercury is associated with driving. Considering the square that it is making to Mars in Libra, and that Uranus is going direct, and that the Sun is in Capricorn for this Full Moon, there is more potential on this day and over the next week to get into trouble with the law and/or get into an accident. Obviously we should never drive when intoxicated, but during this Full Moon there is a higher probability of being careless like this, especially because it’s lined up with the holiday season.

As mentioned above, this is a great period to help others in need. If you can, donate food, toys, money, or your time.

Full Moons are a time where we can initiate some sort of release from our lives. During this period, it could have something to do with letting go of anything that is inhibiting our individuality, freedom, independence, or spiritual aspirations.

If you’d like to set a specific intention for releasing anything, it is best to do it within the first 24 hours after the Full Moon. Click here to find out the time of the Full Moon in your time zone.
